Lymphedema Guide

Lymphedema Guide

The LAQ Resource Guide: the all-in-one tool for patients AND healthcare professionals

With 7,000 copies* distributed, the LAQ Resource Guide lists certified therapists across all regions of Québec, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of compression garments, as well as hospital-based lymphedema services. It also includes information on how to properly access the RAMQ Compression Garment Program.

The Resource Guide has become a valuable resource for people living with lipedema or lipo-lymphedema, who can benefit from the same conservative care services (decongestive therapy and compression), as well as compression support during surgical recovery.

The Resource Guide includes a wealth of information about our support and education groups, adapted exercise programs, community financial assistance, hospital clinics specializing in lymphedema, and professional training opportunities for healthcare workers.

The LAQ Resource Guide is distributed free of charge to CLSCs, GMFs, our partners, and directly to patients.

*Printed edition: registration from October 1 to 31
Online edition: year-round registration

How to use the Resource Guide

01

Make sure you have a medical diagnosis (lymphedema, lipedema, or lipo-lymphedema) provided by your treating physician (e.g., family doctor, phlebologist, dermatologist, oncologist), along with a complete prescription for decongestive therapy and compression garments.

02

Choose a therapist from the Certified therapists section (p. 6-12) and complete the entire cycle of decongestive therapy with bandages.

03

Choose a compression garment fitter from the Products & Services section (p. 16-20) to take measurements. Wear your bandages 24/7 until your compression garment is delivered.

04

Benefit from RAMQ financial support for lymphedema or lipo-lymphedema through your fitter or by submitting your application yourself (p. 21).

05

After delivery of the garment: you have 10 working days to notify the fitter of any discomfort. Consult your therapist again for a follow-up.

06

For questions or assistance for lymphedema, lipo-lymphedema, or lipedema, call the LAQ at 1 866 979-2463.
